J. Mark Hattendorf earned his B.S. degree in Accounting from Loyola University, Los Angeles and a Masters of Business Administration degree from Loyola Marymount University (LMU).

Currently Mark coaches clients interested in advancing their professional career and provides guidance in business situations involving transitional events requiring judgment and experience. Most recently he was Clinical Professor in the Department of Management & Entrepreneurship, having previously served as Lecturer and Senior Lecturer at Loyola Marymount University, College of Business. Classes taught included entrepreneurial finance, accounting, global business, managerial accounting, financial accounting, and finance for nonbusiness majors and he has lectured in the undergraduate and graduate (Executive MBA & Master of Science in Entrepreneurship and Sustainable Innovation) programs. Twice received Professor of the Year Award in the Entrepreneurship Program and trained 3 teams competing in the Venture Capital Investment Competition (VCIC an international competition originating from University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill).

His career as a corporate officer has been with public and private companies holding titles as Chief Operating Officer, Chief Financial Officer, and Member of the Board of Directors/Audit Committee Chair.

His industry focus centered on technology (internet), life sciences (diagnostic and therapeutic research) and entertainment (film and television production/distribution) while working as the senior finance officer with public companies such as Broderbund Software, Acclaim Entertainment, Herbalife International, and 20th Century Fox Film Corp.

His private company experiences have been with innovative, earlier stage companies such as Neural Analytics (based upon technology originating from UCLA Geffen School of Medicine), Sialix Inc. (based upon technology originating from UCSD School of Cellular and Molecular Medicine), EWI Holdings Inc. (an early participant in the electronic payment processor arena) and Prodigy Company (a later stage joint venture owned by IBM and Sears).

Mark is considered a financial expert for Board of Director level activity having served as Independent Board Member and Audit Committee Chair of two public companies (one operating in the technology space and one in the medical device space).

Mark began his career as a CPA with the predecessor firm to KPMG (Los Angeles office).

Mark continues as a business advisor (high net worth/family office level) and participates as an angel investor in the life science and technology industries.
